IEC 61850 standards realize the communication services configuration through the control block, and service tracking is a newly proposed important content in IEC 61850 Ed2, which can be used to monitor the modification behaviors of the communication services configuration in smart substation online. This paper explores the mechanism and application of service tracking in smart substation, presents the mapping mechanism and processes of attribute values in service tracking data object, and discusses the construction method of service tracking with ACSI Reporting. Furthermore, this paper develops an effective service tracking application mode, which uses control block service tracking to monitor the behavior of configuring the communication services dynamically, consequently, to realize the synchronization management of configuration information of communication services in power system and maintain the conformance of configuration information between the sender and the recipient.
