A realization method of the remote digital video monitoring system for substation is introduced. The composition, choice of transmission system and two key technologies of the system are analyzed in detail. It analyzes the strengths and weaknesses of the two forms to construct network based on theoretical analysis and structuring experimental digital video monitoring system，and the form to construct network is identified. The functions of the system software are introduced, and it is designed by using C++ Build tools, DLL and Active X. With an actual project, some problems in the remote digital video monitoring system are analyzed. It is providing a reliable method for the realization of the remote digital video monitoring system.
